Is there a way to make a column "read only" in a view?

I realize that this method “works,” but it is really pretty ugly. It leaves my tables cluttered with duplicative columns and makes Coda execute a bunch of pretty pointless functions. Wouldn’t it be much more elegant for Coda to allow a “read-only” option in addition to “show” and “hide” for any given column in a view?
