We, users, are usually pushing boundaries (I have a certificate from Adobe for making AfterEffects do a thing which was considered impossible)

My user logic is that manual actions always prevail over automatic ones. If I hit a button or toggle, it would likely be best to have a sequence of Stop>Restart action. I feel that this would be less confusing as UX. It’s not a drama for me, anyway; however, I expect that from all my colleagues and users, in general, anything that takes more than 3 seconds would urge them to push something and stop/restart/refresh it - just the lack of patience in modern users.

I do think that your point is more relevant if the subsequent actions take a long time. It can be quite tricky, technically, to stop an in-flight operation, but I do see the broader point. First, I’ll work with the team to speed it up because that is probably the most impactful improvement.

I’m really enjoying this disable if option and wanted to thank the team for it !

Just to know if it’s normal and planned like this, disable if doesn’t work for relation AI columns.
