New from Superhuman: Docs AI in the format bar

Hi everyone, and happy Monday!

Docs AI just got easier to access. Now, when you highlight text in a doc, you can rewrite, summarize, or create your own custom request right at your cursor.

Use it to quickly:

  • Shorten or expand a passage
  • Make your writing more formal
  • Fix grammar and improve clarity
  • Enter your own custom request

Need to go beyond a quick edit? Select Open chat to ask follow-up questions, add more context, or continue refining your work. Your conversations are also saved in your history, so you can return to them later.

How to try it

  1. Highlight text in your doc.
  2. Select Docs AI from the format bar.
  3. Choose a suggested action or enter your own request.
  4. Open the chat if you want to keep iterating.

This update is now available on web and mobile.

Give it a try on the next sentence, paragraph, or section that needs a little extra attention. Then let us know what you think below. We’d especially love to hear which requests you find most useful and what you’d like Docs AI to help with next. :backhand_index_pointing_down:

why is doc AI availble on standard pages and not in the canvas column?
@Ruggy-Joesten , would you please check with the team?

Ideally DocsAI would allow me to select a specific table.
Also, DocsAI should allow to use a more granular pointing to data - min. down to a column, ideally using the formula language (exactly like in AI column but to work better).

here are a few other upgrades:

  • being able to add list of next action (like in Lovable)
  • notifications when it needs input or finishes a task
  • currently doesn’t seem to read information from Grid tables
  • more

This would be a big one for all users but huge for non-makers:

This is on its way maybe:

@Christiaan_Huizer Shared with the team, and we agree this should be an added feature. I will see what a timeline looks like on this and follow up with you
