Superhuman AMA Thread: Ask the Product Team Anything (7/8/26)

Hey everyone!

Thank you for joining our (first ever?) AMA with the product team! We will get started at 11am PT.

TL;DR: To ask a question, hit the big purple REPLY button at the bottom of this post to start a new question thread. Full details on questions, follow-ups, and timing below!

Before we dive in, we just want to take a second to say thank you. So many of you have been in this forum since 2018, pushing us, poking us, and holding us accountable to build the best product we possibly can. We know there’s still a long list of features you’re waiting on, and we’re not going to pretend the work is done. But the fact that you’re still here, still asking, still caring, is exactly why we keep building. Please don’t stop holding our feet to the fire.

What today is about

This AMA is themed around yesterday’s Superhuman Docs launch, so we’ll be prioritizing questions on that topic first. If we have time left over for off-topic questions, we’ll get to them — but no promises! Some things we’re already expecting (and excited) to talk about:

  1. Why the name change?
  2. What’s different about the new Docs AI? And did we give our old pal Gregg a proper send-off? (Deep cut for the real Coda nerds out there.)
  3. Am I going broke paying for all these awesome features I now can’t live without?
  4. What do Lane and Evan do to have such great hair? Not Docs-related, but we know you’re all dying to know.

Timing

We’ll kick off right at 11:00am PT and wrap at 12:30pm PT.

How to post a question

We’re using Discourse’s threaded reply feature to keep things clean, so please start any new question using the big purple "Reply" button here:

Following up

Once someone from the team replies to your question, we’ll generally leave it there. If you’ve got a follow-up, feel free to use that same reply button on the thread:

Just know we’ll be prioritizing new questions over going deep on any one thread, so we may not always get back to a follow-up before time’s up.

Who’s here today

Joining you today: @Rebecca_Bassett1, @Emma_Wyatt, @Lane-Shackleton, @evan, @Justin_Hales1, @Jeremy_Olson and @Ruggy-Joesten — with a potential drop-in from @Shelley_Garg1 as well :sparkles:

And with that… let’s get to it! Drop your questions below using the big purple REPLY button to kick off a new thread.

Thank you again for being here!

New AI Features:

It is unclear how the AI columns in tables, the AI blocks on the canvas, and the Superhuman AI side panel are being implemented. I do not expect the technical details, but my clients NEED to know what generation of model is being used in each case. It LOOKS like Anthropic is used for the side panel, which gives a powerful model with a LARGE context window and full MCP access to our docs. But is the same being used for table AI and canvas AI as well? If not, what are the differences? People are trying out these AI features with the wrong expectations and reporting disappointment with the results.

Special help-line for reporting bugs in the new release.

My clients are seeing several small bugs and mis-alignmenmts with this new release.
Would it make sense to create a specific channel for reporting these issues; a special email address or slack channel or something.

So far there are no P1s (show-stoppers) but the need for a focused effort to sweep up all the minor defects after such a big release is just good support practice.

Hackathon Time!

It has been a very long time since we had a proper hackathon competition.

When Coda AI was first released there was a wonderful competition that raised a lot of awareness, excitement, and engagement.

With such a major new release and new direction; isnt it time for another one?

Its not the prizes but the bragging rights and the whole participation ethos that matters.

The focus should be on using the new capabilities in in Superhuman Docs and Superhuman Go.

We are all so busy with mundane things, that it takes a special event to get us to think about innovative new things, and how these exciting new features could be exploited.

I am happy to help out in any way needed - it would be an important boost to the community engagement I.M.H.O

Great to see these developments in Coda. I wanted to ask a quesiton regarding the coda AI so one of our docs lets employees download the payslip and so in the front end there is only one page visible which allows them to select a period and then they are able to see and then download the slip.
As you know pays are confidential and so a user asked the AI about the last payslit of employee x and it gave away that information. the plan used is coda team plan is there a way to restrict and ensure this doesn’t happen or do we have to change our approach of how we develope different documents?

Is there an ETA for seamless migrations from Coda to Superhuman? I really wanted to start using the whole Superhuman suite and began the migration, but it was too much work and ended up cancelling the subscription.

Couple of feature questions / wish list items:

  • Ability to print via formulas or an action from a button
  • Ability to validate entries in controls
  • Abilty to adjust the width of certain controls, like a text control.
  • Ability to raise/trigger an event or action when the content of a control changes
  • Formulaic control of sorting and grouping.
  • How can we “package” our docs so that we can monetize them?

Thanks, everyone, for the early questions! The team is getting settled in and will start to reply shortly :flexed_biceps:

Do third party subscription packs now work in the Superhuman suite version? I previously tried to migrate from Coda but packs I subscribe to were not available in the Superhuman suite.

I have a question about this new ai view feature: will this allow report creation and exporting of custom views? I also wanted to ask what the roadmap is for report exporting, such as pdf and customizing
I think one of my biggest issues is that there is no way to insert page breaks in the current exports.

Please point me to a good resource to figure out what my billing/consolidating options are, given that I was a previous customer of Superhuman email and a long-time Coda customer as well.

I want to understand better how the products work together and how do I merge the two separate accounts that I currently have.

Not having an upgrade path from Legacy Coda Enterprise (only 1 doc maker) to Superhuman Suite is really pretty awful. I was excited to try the Superhuman Suite, but now I can’t.

I could downgrade to free and then resubscribe, but I would still ahve to wait a week.

When do we plan on having clear upgrade plans and pathways?

Whoo! Congrats on the launch!

Our organization is heavily invested in Microsoft Outlook and the Microsoft 365 suite for day-to-day operations. Will there be an à la carte licensing option for Superhuman Docs, or is it only available as part of the broader platform? Last I checked, new pricing model said “Member/month”. Is that the same as the previous pricing model from Coda (i.e., does “Member” = “Doc Maker” and editors are free)?

If standalone licensing isn’t available, do you have any recommendations or examples of how the other included applications could complement a Microsoft-centric environment? We’d be interested in understanding use cases where they provide meaningful value without replacing our existing ecosystem.

I thought there was going to be a live video portion to this, so I thought something else was supposed to load in tandem to this AMA doc.

Is this text-only with no video?
I am trying to give you the benefit of the doubt here, so I’m hoping I’m just missing a hidden link somewhere…

Hey Max! The models for Docs AI and AI columns are not the same today, and generally all our AI features use a mix of models between Anthropic and OpenAI depending on the task.

We plan to update this a lot in future including using our proprietary models - so this is not fixed and we plan to continue updating frequently as the industry and feature set evolves.

To your specific question about AI columns and blocks: I’m looping in @Henrique_Cruz - PM for these features. One thing I’ll add is that the differences go beyond models - into orchestration logic and tool use capabilities. Please share examples and feedback as you discover disappointing (or exciting) results. It will be extremely helpful in improving the product.

So what is the status on allowing edit rights with a synced doc where you only share a portion of the information from the original doc without having to give them edit rights to the original doc?
