I have recently received a mail form Coda about plans update with new limits soon.
Major upgrades coming to Coda
Big things are coming to Coda, especially around AI to help you write, build what you’re imagining faster, and automate tedious work.
If your docs are getting bigger, you may start to run into limits. Paid plans give you the space to keep building, plus automations, version history, and more advanced AI.
If you upgrade by July 6th, you’ll lock in today’s prices before they go up.
That includes higher doc limits, automations, version history, and access to new features as we roll them out.
Upgrade today to lock in your rate by July 6th.
- Will this limit the doc size again in free version? For unshared docs, I mean?

Based on the email subject “Your free plan is about to feel smaller” I don’t think they are changing the doc size.
Reducing the doc size would not make the free plan “feel” smaller, but actually make it smaller.
How will they make it feel smaller, then?
I bet that a lot of new AI features are going to take up a bunch of space, and will probably be gated to the paid plans.
I agree. I think what they’re treating to say is compared to the new, paid features, the free version is going to feel smaller.

So, it’ll be only for AI? Not related to doc size?
I hope it’ll be as you said. not changing the limits of free version.
This is just an assumption on my part. Until they release the actual info, we don’t really know.
Hi everyone, thanks for your feedback and for mentioning the subject line. I’m here to provide some clearer information.
We sent that email to some free users before a price change for new customers. This update will not affect current customers. If you already use Coda, free or paid, your plan stays the same. Nothing is being removed.
To answer the main question: we are not lowering any current limits, such as document size. The changes are about adding new features, such as automation, as we mentioned in the recent “What’s Next for Coda” roundtable. We worked hard on these, and hope that if you do choose to upgrade, you’ll feel it’s worth it, even at a higher price.
The email that was sent may not have come across as we hoped. If you are thinking about upgrading, current rates will remain in effect until the new pricing takes effect (hence, the nudge to upgrade, if you’ve been thinking about it). There is no need to decide right away.
We are still working out the details of future pricing and will share updates here as soon as we have them.
