Despite the huge focus on AI, the part of Coda that has me reaching for AI the most is formula authoring, and there is absolutely nothing around that, to the point users are resorting to training their own GPTs! Yes, there is AI to auto-generate content for a column, but sometimes you need the guarantees and precision of a formula, especially when the calculation is less open-ended.
For such a constrained language and generally small snippets, I suspect accuracy would be great. Plenty of precedent around using AI to aid code tasks, though for a different target audience — the best UI for novices is an open question. Lots of interesting potential in this space, beyond the typical autocomplete, e.g. suggesting formulas from examples. But at this point literally anything is better than the current workflow of using ChatGPT in a separate tab…
