Scaling Column Width

I’ve been an avid Coda user and fan for quite a few years now.
However, something I’ve consistently struggled with is anticipating the ideal columns widths for display views. End users often work with different displays, aspect ratios, etc. Something that may look great to me may be overly spaced or congested for someone else.

My wishlist request: To define column widths that scale with the overall display (e.g., percentage-based), rather than a fixed value.

  • This post was initially for display views, but I can see how this could be beneficial for the pixel-specified canvas page widths (i.e., Narrow and Wide).
  • Additionally, when trying to fit everything neatly on the display, I find the side-scroll bar superfluous or even misleading(?), screenshot below.

Definitely a “first world problem” of product feedback. But it’s been on my mind for years now and I finally made the effort to be vocalize it.
